The Lahore High Court has ruled on the swearing in of Hamza Shahbaz as Chief Minister.
The Lahore High Court has directed the Speaker National Assembly to take oath from Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
The court ruled that the speaker of the National Assembly would take oath from Hamza Shahbaz tomorrow at 11:30 am.
The Lahore High Court issued a 9-page decision.
The written decision said that the High Court office should inform the law secretary about the court order.
Justice Jawad Hassan had reserved judgment on the petition of Hamza Shahbaz.
At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Jawad Hassan said that the time of the court has passed. How can one hear?
Justice Jawad Hassan remarked that I have to read everything now, I have to work according to the law, what was the order of the Chief Justice? Asked to do so by April.
Justice Jawad Hassan said that no one should dare to disobey the order of the High Court. Lawyer Ashtar Osaf Ali said that the constitution is being violated by not taking oath.
Lawyer Ashtar Osaf Ali said that Governor Punjab is not abiding by the constitution. Justice Jawad Hassan remarked that why don’t you file contempt of court case. Lawyer replied that we can do it but my client has just taken oath. The matter has been asked to be taken before the court.
Hamza Shahbaz’s lawyer said that the basic rights of the people are affected because their elected representative is not working.
Justice Jawad Hassan said that the decisions of the court are not being obeyed, it is a question of honor of the court, if I see the way in the constitution, I will walk.
Hamza’s lawyer Ashtar Osaf said the court had sentenced the former prime minister to two minutes in contempt of court, after which the prime minister had to resign.
