KARACHI: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has announced its support for the nationwide traders’ strike scheduled for August 28. In a joint statement, KATI President Johar Qandhari, Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, and Executive Council members called on the government to immediately address the demands of the business community.
KATI leaders emphasized the need for reducing the tax burden and electricity prices, as well as revising the contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). They also urged the government to abolish additional charges like PHL on electricity bills in Karachi.
President Qandhari highlighted the difficulties faced by businessmen and industrialists due to the current economic crisis and stressed the importance of providing relief to them. He stated that if the legitimate demands of the business community are met, they are ready to contribute fully to stabilizing and improving Pakistan’s economy.
