The polling process for the by-election in NA-245 constituency of Karachi has started.
The polling time for the by-election in the National Assembly constituency started at 8 am which will continue till 5 pm without any break.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Mahmood Maulvi, MQM’s candidate Moeed Anwar, PSP’s Syed Hafeezuddin, Mohajir Qaumi Movement’s Mohammad Shahid and TLP’s Mohammad Ahmad Raza Mad are competing on this seat.
Farooq Sattar is in the fray as an independent candidate, with a total of 15 candidates contesting the seat, while PPP and JUI candidates withdrew in favor of the MQM.
It should be noted that this seat of the National Assembly was vacant due to the death of Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
The number of registered voters in NA 245 is around 5 lakh, who will decide the fate of the candidates, 203 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive and 60 sensitive.
Chief Election Commissioner
Chief Election Commissioner says that disturbance and interference in polling will not be tolerated, people should come to polling stations without any fear.
He said that immediate action will be taken on violation of the law, so the police and law enforcement agencies should be alert and diligent.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the District Monitoring Officer and the monitoring teams should remain active while the public should not believe rumours.
