An agreement is likely to be reached soon between the Afghan Taliban and the United Arab Emirates to take control of Kabul Airport.
According to a foreign news agency, a formal agreement will be announced in a few weeks.
Afghanistan’s Taliban government had approached regional countries, including Qatar and Turkey, to run other airports, including Kabul.
After months of negotiations, the Taliban have decided to hand over control of all airports to the United Arab Emirates, even before the Gulf state operated Afghan airports.
Under a possible agreement with the UAE, Afghans will be employed at airports.
Last year, the Afghan government awarded a contract for ground services for airports to a UAE company before the Taliban took power in May.
