Khairpur – The Leaders Students Society, Institute of International Relations Shah Abdul Latif University
Khairpur in collaboration with Rotary Club Bhittai Khairpur and Young Peace & Development
Corp (YPDC) commemorated International Peace Day. In this regard, a seminar was organized
at the Students Societies Centre aimed to highlight the importance of peace and the role of peace
education. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences presided over the
seminar.
Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari said that peace is an imperative
for world community. In the presence of peace, we could bring prosperity and development. He
said world community must strive to bring peace in the world arena. He appreciated the efforts
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for providing space for organizing this seminar
and he also commended the efforts of Director Institute of International Relations, Faculty
Members and the organizers for organizing the International Peace Day.
Prof. Dr Amir Ahmed Khuhro Director Institute of International Relations said that
International Peace Day must be observed by the institutions and that celebrating peace day is
vital for the promotion of peace, human rights. He also highlighted the achievements and
activities of the Institute of International Relations in the field of Peace & Conflict Studies.
Prof. Dr. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Mr. Sarfaraz Ali Korejo, Mr. Ishrat Ali Mirani, and Dr.
Ramzan Kolachi, Assistant Professors of the Institute also shared their views. They presented
their key insight related to peace day. They also discussed various aspects and challenges of
peace, such as human rights, democracy, justice, tolerance, dialogue and discourse.
The students of the Institute also presented their speeches on the theme. Earlier, a Peace Walk
was also taken out from the Academic Block to the Students Societies Centre and cake cutting
ceremony was also held.
