KARACHI – Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed directed the Immigration Staff at Karachi International Airport to increase the Immigration Counters at the terminal to ease the load of passengers travelling overseas.
He said this while visiting the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on Sunday and inspected the Immigration Counters.
The Immigration Officials briefed the Minister for Interior about the procedure.
Sheikh Rashid directed the Additional Director of FIA – Sindh the new counters should be completed within the next two months.
The Interior Minister said that Overseas Pakistanis are our asset and their role in Pakistan’s economic development is the most prominent.
Sheikh Rashid said that the government is taking concrete steps to promote tourism and trade under the Prime Minister’s vision and online visa will boost the tourism sector. It will also benefit the country’s economy.
Earlier, addressing a press conference in Karachi, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced that more NADRA and Passport offices will be opened in Karachi and E-Passport system will also be inaugurated from Karachi by June this year.
Reply to a question, Sheikh Rashid said that the process of fencing the Afghan border will be completed by June this year and work is underway on the border with Iran.
