In the residents of North Karachi Town, Sector 5E, UC-8 Faisal Recent days, a 10-year-old girl
named Fatima was bitten by a stray dog.
Karachi (Staff Reporter): If a child contracts polio in the city of Karachi, the
government promptly initiates a polio campaign in the health sector. However, if
a child in North Karachi, Town Sector 5E, is attacked by a stray dog, there is never
an immediate campaign launched by the municipality to catch them.
According to details, a recent incident occurred in North Karachi, Town Sector 5E,
where a 10-year-old girl named Fatima was attacked by a stray dog. The dog bit
her, leaving marks on her body and teeth marks on one part of her leg. This has
instilled fear and panic among residents of the area. However, Fatima was rushed
to Abbasi Hospital in time, where her condition was stabilized.
Questions arise as to why, when stray dogs pose such a significant threat, no
campaign is initiated to catch and shelter them across the city, similar to the polio
drops plan. Why are anti-rabies cases pushed towards endangering human lives?
Residents expressed that just like the polio campaign, efforts should be made to
address the stray dogs issue in North Karachi, Town Sector 5E, immediately to
ensure the safety of children.
They stated that although they witness extremely diligent measures in the polio
campaign, no such initiative is taken regarding stray dogs. This is a questionable
mark for the municipal corporation and other concerned authorities. We urge the
government to pay special attention to North Karachi, Town Sector 5E. Currently,
there are 18 to 20 stray dogs roaming in a few streets, indicating a potential
danger. Immediate steps should be taken for the protection of children and to
find a solution to the stray dog issue so that the city’s residents can live without
fear.
