Karachi, January 22, 2026 : ILMA University organized the prestigious ILMA Media Summit 2026 under the leadership of Honorable Chancellor Mr. Noman Abid Lakhani (T.I), Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mansoor Uz-Zafar Dawood, Dean, Faculty of Media & Design, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, Registrar, Syed Kashif Rafi, Faculty of Media and Design and the Events Department, who played a pivotal role in planning and executing the summit. The summit brought together leading voices from media, journalism, filmmaking, digital platforms, corporate communications, and academic leadership to discuss the rapidly evolving media landscape.
The summit formally began with the main inaugural vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, Dean, Faculty of Media & Design, ILMA University, followed by the presentation of mementos to the keynote speakers and distinguished guests by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mansoor Uz-Zafar Dawood, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, and Registrar Syed Kashif Rafi, ILMA University. The summit was strongly supported by valued partner organizations, including Noman Group of Companies, Global Educational Consultants Society (GEC), Rapido, Tarbiyat, AlKaram Towel Indsutries, Rotary District 3271, Rotary Club of Karachi Pearl, Dr. Essa Laboratories, ABN News, KATI, Arif Habib Limited, Daily Ausaf, Biz Today, The Pakistan Guardian, Profit, Coarts Lighting Solutions, Clipsal, Pakistan Today, and The AZB, whose collaboration significantly contributed to the successful execution of the summit. The summit was held under the theme “The Future of Media Content: Innovation, Integrity, and Impact in the Digital Age,” highlighting the importance of creativity, ethical standards, and technological advancement in shaping the future of content creation. Organized by the Faculty of Media & Design, the summit reflected ILMA University’s continued commitment to fostering innovation, industry engagement, and professional excellence.
The summit was held under the patronage and strategic vision of Prof. Dr. Mansoor Uz-Zafar Dawood, Vice Chancellor, ILMA University, whose leadership continues to strengthen the university’s academic and industry relevance. The summit featured distinguished keynote addresses by Ms. Irum Tanveer, Director General (PR), Press Information Department (PID), Karachi, and Mr. Khalid Hasan Khan, award-winning and internationally acclaimed filmmaker and graduate of the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles, USA. Both keynote speakers shared valuable perspectives on strategic communication, creative leadership, and the global transformation of digital storytelling, setting a strong intellectual foundation for the day’s discussions.
The first panel discussion, titled “Storytelling, Drama Writing & Innovation in the Digital Age,” was moderated by Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Sultana, Dean, Faculty of Media & Design, ILMA University. The panel featured Prof. Saleem Mughal, Educationist and Media Consultant; Sheema Kermani, Founder and Artistic Director of Tehrik-e-Niswan; Sajid Hassan, Actor, Script Writer & Director; Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Drama Writer, Director, and Producer; and Kulsoom Aftab, Actress and Founder of THEAKADA. The discussion highlighted evolving storytelling formats, digital disruption in drama production, and innovative narrative techniques in the digital age.
The second panel, “The Role of Regulation and Ethics in Content Creation,” was moderated by Sana Hashmi, Anchor and Executive Producer at GTV. The panel included Mazhar Abbas, Senior Journalist and Media Practitioner; Aslam Khan, Bureau Chief at SAMAA TV and Secretary, Karachi Press Club; Hafiz Tariq Mahmood, Managing Director of 365 TV Channel; and Caiyad Phahad, Media Practitioner. The session focused on ethical journalism, professional accountability, and the importance of maintaining public trust in an increasingly digital and fast-paced media environment.
The third panel discussion, “Digital Media, Technological Innovations in Content Creation,” was moderated by Farhan Ahmed, President and Founding Member of the Communications Association of Pakistan. Panelists included Syed Hassan Abbas, Editor, Daily Express; Lucas Peter, Chief Executive Officer of Re-volt Media; and Ayaz Ahmed Khan, Founder of MoJo Pakistan and AI Media Production Specialist. The panel explored digital transformation, artificial intelligence, corporate storytelling, and emerging technologies shaping the future of content creation.
The ILMA Media Summit 2026 concluded with strong engagement from students, faculty members, and industry professionals, reinforcing ILMA University’s position as a leading institution in promoting meaningful collaboration between academia and the media industry.
