KARACHI: A severe heatwave has gripped upper and central districts of Sindh, leaving citizens struggling under intense weather conditions, while Karachi continues to experience hot and humid weather, according to officials.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert, forecasting that the extreme weather conditions are likely to persist until May 3 across central and upper Sindh.
Authorities stated that districts including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur are expected to experience daytime temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal levels.
Residents in affected areas have been advised to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak hours, and increase water intake to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, Karachi remains under hot and humid conditions, with weather experts warning that rising temperatures combined with humidity may further increase discomfort for citizens in the coming days.
The ongoing heatwave has raised concerns over public health, especially for vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.
