Haris Rauf of Lahore Qalandars has shared his views on the unusual change in ball colour during the opening match of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium.
PSL 11 Introduces Rule Allowing Captains to Submit Two Playing XIs Before Toss
Speaking after the match, Rauf said the exact reason behind the ball turning from white to pink could not be confirmed. He suggested that the discoloration may have occurred after the ball struck a chair or rubbed against the pitch during play.
The fast bowler also addressed an on-field moment when the bails did not fall despite impact, noting that such incidents occasionally happen in cricket. He admitted that the pitch conditions were not particularly favorable for him but expressed determination to bowl with greater pace in upcoming matches to improve his wicket-taking performance.
Rauf emphasized that he treats every game as a fresh opportunity, acknowledging that players cannot always meet public expectations. “Taking wickets at the end of an innings is the most difficult task,” he said, adding that both middle overs and death overs present significant challenges for bowlers.
He further noted that the team has, at times, conceded runs even after taking wickets, highlighting an area for improvement.
The pacer also underlined his personal goal of delivering strong performances in PSL 11 to catch the attention of selectors, regardless of immediate selection outcomes.
Praising his team’s strength, Rauf said Lahore Qalandars possess an excellent bowling unit, including quality spinners and a strong bench. He added that any player in the squad could be called upon to perform at any time.
