KARACHI – Muhammad Hanif Gohar Senior Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Former Chairman Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), has demanded from the Federal Government to extend the date of the Amnesty Scheme by one year. Hanif Gohar said that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other agencies related to the construction sector, including the Department of Environmental Protection, has been issuing NOCs to builders and developers after the announcement of the scheme. By 2020, the scheme will not benefit builders, developers, and real estate investors.
Hanif Gohar said that due to the global epidemic in Corona, other businesses including the construction sector are already suffering huge financial losses which have had a direct negative impact on the country’s economy. He said a one-year extension of the amnesty scheme would be the best way to ease the pressure on the country’s economy, which would boost government revenue as well as the construction sector. He also said that the construction sector is the backbone of any country’s economy. The development of the construction sector has also mobilized more than 100 other ancillary industries.
Hanif Gohar also demanded from the government to expand the amnesty scheme as well as facilitate the approval of construction projects in SBCA, Environment and other institutions related to the construction sector so that domestic and real estate in the construction sector and real estate. Foreign investment has increased. The senior vice president of FPCCI said that there is already a shortage of 12 million houses in the country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced other incentives, including the New Pakistan Housing Scheme, to provide affordable housing for the low-income group. Hanif Gohar said that the expansion of the amnesty scheme would boost the country’s economy as well as fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan to build affordable housing in Pakistan and provide low-income class coins.
