The senior member of the United Business Group (UBG), former Chairman of Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD), former Senior Vice President (SVP) of FPPCI and the General Secretary of United Business Group (UBG – Southern Zone), Mr. Mohammad Hanif Gohar appreciated Sindh police, especially IG Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, Addl. IG Police, Jawed Alam Odho, all DIG’s and SSP’s of Karachi police for bringing peace and controlling the difficult situation in Karachi. He said that peace of Karachi is the result of the lives of many policemen namely, SP Choudhry Aslam Shaheed, Inspector Shafiq Tanoli Shaheed, Inspector Bahadur Ali Shaheed, and many other officials, who have been sacrificed for changing the city of Karachi from one of the dangerous cities to a safe one and the Sindh police, specially the Karachi police has played a big role in maintaining peace and tranquility in the province of Sindh, especially in the city of Karachi despite the difficult and critical situations prevailing in Karachi.
Hanif Gohar elaborated that in the year 2014, international agencies had ranked Karachi no. 1 in the list of the unsafe cities. Extortion of money, kidnappings for ransom, possession of plots, target killings and street crimes were on the rise in Karachi. The investors of Karachi had started to move their investments to other cities and countries. Carrying out business in the city of Karachi had become extremely difficult. Builders and developers were scared to visit their project sites while industrialists were frightened to go to their factories.
Hanif Gohar also spoke at length about some events which occurred in the last month that have been controlled by the Sindh Police officers and Shaheen Forces of Karachi with great efforts. Due to the peace and tranquility of Karachi, the England cricket team visited Karachi for a successful tour. Hanif Gohar said this achievement of the Sindh police, in Karachi as the 6th largest city of the world, despite the huge proportion difference between the population and the less police forces, shortage of forensic services, and the weaknesses of the judicial system, will never be forgotten by the citizens of Karachi.
He further added that peace and tranquility is extremely important for the development of any country or city. International investments also depend upon the peace of the particular city as well as the country. Federal and Sindh Government should increase the Police Force, issue them modern equipment and should equip them with forensic services. The business community of Karachi i.e. S.M.Muneer, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, Mohammad Hanif Gohar, Ahmed Chinoy, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Senator Haseeb Khan, Abdul Sami Khan, Mazhar Ali Nasir, Mumtaz Ali Shaikh and all other present its gratitude and appreciation towards the sacrifices of the Karachi police.
