KARACHI Pakistan – 11th August 2023)Hanif Gohar, the former seniorVice President of FPCCI and former Chairman ABAD has issued a compelling appeal to the Ministry of Commerce and the Director General of Trade Organizations (DGTO), urging them to take immediate action in addressing the issue of illegal management within the FPCCI. He has also called upon the Ministry of Commerce to expedite the implementation of the Trade Organization (Amendment) Act of 2023, recently passed by the assembly.
According to the statement issued by the central spokesperson of UBG, Gulzar Feroze, In his plea, Gohar emphasizes the immediate necessity of removing the current management of FPCCI, citing their illegitimate presence and a potential breach of the new amendments in the Trade Organization Act. He proposes the appointment of an administrator to oversee the operations of FPCCI and ensure a fair and impartial election process of FPCCI.
The business community’s concerns have been heightened due to the observed misuse of FPCCI’s resources, particularly its financial assets, by the unlawfully operating management. With the newly enacted amendments in place, the existing office bearers of FPCCI lack the legal authority to continue their roles within the organization.
Gohar’s appeal underscores the urgency of rectifying the situation at FPCCI and restoring its integrity by upholding the rule of law and fair governance. It remains to be seen how the Ministry of Commerce and DGTO will respond to this critical matter that affects the business landscape and the reputation of FPCCI.
