Washington D.C: American Pakistani philanthropist and successful entrepreneur Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry met H.E. Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the United States on Wednesday, June 10, in Washington D.C.
Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry underlined the need for enhanced cooperation and close coordination between the United States and Pakistan in the healthcare sector. In the meeting with the Ambassador, he said that the healthcare organizations in Pakistan are in close collaboration, and they are about to sign memorandums of understanding for the purpose, but there was still a further need to expand the cooperation.
The ambassador said that American Pakistani healthcare experts are playing an important role in the American healthcare system. He stressed strengthening business-to-business cooperation between the two countries. He said that business ventures are a good beginning for all kinds of cooperation.
Against the backdrop of longstanding regional tensions within South Asia, the international COVID-19 economic slowdown, the United States’ evolving role in the world; US-Pakistan relations stand at a crossroads. Though these factors represent formidable challenges, significant opportunities for the multidimensional growth of US-Pakistan relations remain in areas such as bilateral trade, business, and entrepreneurship, regional peace and security, and other areas.
Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry said that flagship projects are crucial for regional connectivity. He apprised H.E. Dr. Asad Majeed Khan about the role he is playing in supporting trade and commerce which has great potential for more investors going to Pakistan. He said that necessary infrastructure in the healthcare industry in Pakistan is already there, but still, new systems need to be developed on social and economic cooperation fronts. He called for city-to-city cooperation, research, and collaboration on social protection programs between Pakistan and the United States.
During the meeting, both the dignitaries exchanged felicitations on the successful fight against Covid-19 in the United States. Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry, Ph.D. in Public Health has worked tirelessly within communities during the pandemic creating awareness. “We have come a long way during the pandemic while fighting the odds,” he remarked.
