The government has announced to challenge the court decision to release Shahrukh Jatoi and other accused in the Shahzeb murder. A request for reconsideration of the decision will be filed by the Attorney General’s Office.
In the statement issued by the Attorney General’s office, it was said that the position of the Attorney General was not heard in the Shahzeb murder case, there were provisions of terrorism in the Shahzeb murder case, it was necessary to hear the position of the Attorney General on the terrorism provisions.
In the statement, it was said that the Supreme Court has passed sentences in cases with terrorism clauses in the past, the decision of the Supreme Court in the Shahzeb murder case is contrary to its previous decisions, a request for reconsideration of the decision will be filed.
The Shahzeb murder case was heard in the Supreme Court today by a three-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan. Meanwhile, the lawyer of the criminals, Latif Khosa, told the court that the parties had already reached an agreement, the accused had no intention of spreading terror, and the murder incident was given the color of terrorism.

On December 25, 2012, the sister of deceased Shahzeb Khan was abused by Shahrukh Jatoi and his friend Ghulam Murtaza Lashari, on which Shahzeb got angry and ran away from the accused. The case was dismissed at the time, but Shahrukh Jatoi along with his friends shot at Shahzeb’s car and killed him.
After the incident, Shah Rukh had fled to Dubai and the investigation of the case was slow. Eventually, the culprit was arrested and the case went to the Anti-Terrorism Court.
Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur were sentenced to death on June 7, 2013, while Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Later, the Sindh High Court changed the decision of the trial court and sentenced them to life imprisonment, after which the accused filed appeals in the Supreme Court against the life imprisonment.
