PAKISTAN- KARACHI: Easter can be called the Celebration of New Life. This Easter has come as the world is fighting a global pandemic. Luckily, at such a time of despair, hope, courage, and a newfound appreciation for human connection has come to fore. I join with millions of Christian from around world to celebrate Easter and commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I wish you and your family a very Happy Easter and s desire that we all come together and take humanity to new heights where peace and justice thrives.
Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said that Jesus Christ (A.S.) was ordained by Almighty Allah to preach love, peace, tolerance and brotherhood. Islam gives equal rights to the minorities and our Constitution grants minorities equal participation in all walks of life. He said Easter also reminds us of the teachings of Jesus Christ and his universal message of love, forgiveness, and brotherhood, which can bring harmony and peace to the world.
Allama Ahsan Siddiqui while extending greeting on special day said the need for promoting inter-faith harmony and working hand-in-hand for the development and prosperity of the country. The rights and privileges enjoyed by all minorities in Pakistan will be fully safeguarded by the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) according to the Constitution and guiding principles of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The ICPH Chairman also acknowledged and appreciated the services of Non-Muslim community’s especially Christian community in various fields including education, health, social welfare and economic development of Pakistan. He also urged the Christian community to serve all their energies in progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
In this sense Easter has a universal message. As human being we have to bury our selfish and brutal nature and rise to a new level of life or newness of life. In this time of the COVID19 pandemic this message taken on a special and vital importance as the pandemic respects no borders or nationalities.
Let us hope that this Easter will bring back our lives to normalcy and that the human race will emerge stronger from the hardships we face now. Please stay safe and keep your families safe during the COVID19 pandemic.
