August 22, 2025: FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL) has commissioned a 3.4-megawatt solar power system at its Sahiwal manufacturing facility in collaboration with REON Energy Limited. The project was inaugurated by Mr. Kashan Hassan, Managing Director, FCEPL, who termed it a “major milestone in advancing sustainable operations and clean energy transition within Pakistan’s dairy sector.”
“This investment reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting the planet while nourishing Pakistan with high-quality dairy nutrition,” said Mr. Kashan. “we believe in doing dairy right and by integrating renewable energy into our value chain, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also building resilience and saving the planet for the generations to come.”

The solar installation is designed to generate over 5,000 MWh annually, replacing conventional fossil fuel-based electricity and reducing approximately 2,500 tonnes of CO? emissions each year. This initiative directly supports Pakistan’s progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Pakistan has committed to deriving 60 per cent of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, in line with global climate agreements. Industry analysts note that private sector initiatives such as this complement national renewable energy targets and underscore the growing role of businesses in advancing climate resilience.
FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan’s transition toward renewable energy is part of its larger Net Zero ambition, combining environmental responsibility with nutrition and well-being. With this project, the company continues to demonstrate that economic growth, sustainability, and community welfare can move forward together.
