LAHORE – The Punjab government is all set to launch the distribution of free solar panel systems among a certain group of electricity consumers from Independence Day, which is marked on August 14 every year.

The scheme has been launched to provide relief to people, who are paying exorbitant electricity bills due to heavy taxes, fuel cost adjustments and other factors. Starting from July 2024, the federal government has also increased the base tariff, putting additional burden on masses.
With the solar panel scheme, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz aims at cutting the electricity bill of consumers by 40 percent.
The chief minister will formally launch the distribution of solar panel setups among the eligible applicants from August 14, 2024.
