Karachi : A tragic incident has plunged Karachi into deep mourning as Furqan, a young firefighter from Nazimabad Fire Station, laid down his life while performing his duty during a fire and rescue operation.
Furqan was actively engaged in a search operation inside a building to locate missing persons when a generator and heavy debris suddenly fell from the rooftop, striking him fatally. He embraced martyrdom on the spot while courageously attempting to save others.
Chairman Consumers Association of Pakistan, Kaukab Iqbal, expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Firefighter Furqan and paid rich tribute to his bravery, dedication, and supreme sacrifice. He stated that Furqan demonstrated the highest traditions of courage and selflessness by risking—and ultimately giving—his life to protect the citizens of Karachi.
Kaukab Iqbal said:
“This is the martyrdom of a son of Karachi, who sacrificed his life while saving the people of Karachi. Such sacrifices are a source of pride for the entire nation and must never be forgotten.”
He strongly appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, to formally recognize the heroic services of Shaheed Furqan by awarding him the prestigious Tamgha-e-Jurat.
The Chairman Consumers Association of Pakistan further urged the Government to ensure complete welfare and protection for the bereaved family, including:
•Provision of government housing
•Announcement of a minimum monthly financial assistance of PKR 100,000 for the dependents
•Grant of all official benefits, compensation, and martyr packages as per law
Kaukab Iqbal emphasized that firefighters and rescue personnel risk their lives daily for public safety, and it is the moral and constitutional responsibility of the State to stand firmly with the families of martyrs and ensure their long-term support.
He concluded by praying that Allah Almighty grant Shaheed Furqan the highest ranks in Jannah and bestow patience and strength upon his family to bear this irreparable loss.
