Karachi: Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (T?KA) in cooperation with the Kiran Foundation gifted a micro-farming set to 50 women living in the Lyari district of Karachi, where they can grow organic agricultural products. After the two-day micro-farming training conducted in collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University lecturers at Lyari DTCO Public School Campus, micro-gardening kit distribution took place. The distribution ceremony was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi Cemal Sangu, T?KA Karachi Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Ba?aran, Kiran Foundation administrator, and women from Lyari.


The Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi Cemal Sangu visited the music class and library established by T?KA in 2021 at the school before the commencement of the program and appreciated it very much. He thanked T?KA for its contributions to the beautiful children of Lyari. In his speech, Sangu expressed that it is very important to support children as well as women, especially mothers, and also stated that the micro gardens provided by T?KA will provide an opportunity to breathe in the fresh environment in a city life that is far from nature.


Starting his speech by appreciating Kiran Foundation and Sindh Agricultural University for their good cooperation, T?KA Karachi Coordinator Halil Ibrahim Ba?aran stated that they had previously established a music class and library for children at Lyari DTCO Government School and created a family interaction area and now they are pleased to give Lyari women and mothers an agricultural gift set where they can engage in agricultural activities with their children at home.


Ms. Abida Garib, General Body Member of the Kiran Foundation, extended her warm regards by expressing her gratitude for the generosity and love of the people of Türkiye.


From Lyarian women who participated in the training, Ms. Saima Abdul Ghani said, “It was a very interesting one-of-a-kind experience. The trainers taught us the practices for kitchen gardening and sustainability. We thank the people of Türkiye and T?KA for this great opportunity.


After the speeches, the agricultural kits provided by T?KA were distributed to 50 women from Lyari. With the distributed agricultural kits, Lyari women now have the opportunity to grow organic agricultural products in a city where there is no agricultural production area, while on the other hand, they will have the opportunity to interact with their children, especially in a home environment.
