Karachi, 21-Nov-2024. On World Fisheries Day, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of our fishermen and fish farmers who are the backbone of our aquatic ecosystem and food security. In Pakistan, 01 million of population is associated with the seafood industries contributing 0.4% of the country’s GDP. At the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, we remain committed to empowering these communities through Innovation and support.
Over the past years, with the introduction of new technologies, high value fish species, enhanced the productivity and sustainability in the sector. These initiatives aim to improve livelihoods, enhance production and export while ensuring the preservation of our aquatic resources for future generations.
Let us pledge to work together towards a thriving and sustainable fisheries sector, where every stakeholder can prosper while protecting the environment. Together, we can create a brighter future for our fishermen, fish farmers, and the communities they serve.
Last but not the least, on this very important day, I can take pride that Pakistan is all set to take off with the start of Aquaculture based exports from the Country
