Users around the world have complained about the site not opening or showing errors in Facebook’s computer browsers (such as Chrome, Edge, etc.), especially on Windows computers. Users on X say they are unable to access Facebook.com from a web browser, while the same services are generally working fine on the mobile app and Apple Mac computers. Users have reported that they are getting messages like “Something went wrong” or the page not opening when trying to open Facebook in a browser. Users from multiple countries reported the same issue simultaneously for both Facebook and Instagram, indicating that this is not a local issue but a possible indication of a global technical glitch. However, the technical glitch appears to be limited to the browser. Users using the mobile app are accessing their news, messages and feeds normally, and the Facebook web version is also opening without issue on Apple’s macOS. This suggests that the issue may be related to the compatibility of a particular Windows browser or a specific server connection, although Meta or Facebook have not yet issued an official statement on this. According to reports on Downdetector, there has been a sudden increase in Facebook-related issues, indicating a large group of users are unable to access the service using a browser. Users are currently advised to use the app or clear their browser cache/cookies and try again until Meta comes up with a permanent solution to the issue. Meta has not yet issued any official explanation or statement regarding this.
