Karachi – Dow College of Pharmacy, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, organized World Pharmacist Day on 30th September, Saturday. The event jerked off with a vibrant community walk, symbolizing the unity and commitment of pharmacists toward healthcare. Participants came together for the purposeful walk demonstrating their support for a healthier tomorrow.
Following the walk, there was a series of engaging activities and educational sessions related to medication safety, proper usage, and the latest advancements in pharmaceutical care. Dow College of Pharmacy was honored to have distinguished guests, speakers, and experts in the field of pharmacy who shared their insights and expertise throughout the day.
Following the walk, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy (chief guest for the occasion) was requested to cut the ribbon and declare open the scientific poster and model competition in which a number of participants showcased their research work in the form of posters and models.
The occasion was graced by the following eminent personalities as guest of Honor
· Mr. Syed Farooq Bukhari, Chairman Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association) PPMA,
· Dr. Shaikh Kaiser Waheed, President and CEO of Medisure Pharma Pvt. Ltd.
· Mr. Adnan Hirani, CEO of Hirani’s Pharma Pvt. Ltd.
Hon vice chancellor appreciated the students’ participation in this event and suggested to the Principal to have some programs for Transplant Pharmacist, to fulfill the emerging need for Pharmacists.
The Principal Dow College of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim started the event with a welcome speech and showed an enlightening presentation about the efforts done in Dow College of Pharmacy.
After that esteemed guests of honor shared their thoughts and congratulated all the pharmacists around for their commendable efforts made for a healthier society.
Throughout the day attendees were engaged in enlightening sessions given by guest speakers including Mr. Arshad Rahim khan (Ex-CEO Wyeth Pharma Pvt. Ltd), Ms. Asma Hamid (Director Pharmacy services Dow University Hospital), Ms. Sadia Asim (Director Institute of biological, biochemical and pharmaceutical sciences). The event was also graced with a panel discussion including guests from Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Dr. Syed saif-Ur-Rahman Khattak), academia (Prof. Dr. Faiyaz H M Vaid and Prof. Dr. Izhar Hussain), Hospital (Mr. Aslam Shah). Positions were also given to the winners of poster and model competitions.
The Dean of Dow College of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Rabia Bushra gave the thanks vote. Finally, an Alumni session was conducted in which alumni of Dow College of Pharmacy, from different walks of life shared their thoughts regarding career and future goals.
World Pharmacist day also provided a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals and community. It emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing healthcare and ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
