A meeting of South Asian Forum of Employers (SAFE) was held on the side-lines of the 17th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting(APRM) at Singapore. The meeting was chaired by Ram Chandra, President Nepal Chamber of Commerce and current President of SAFE, who expressed its gratitude to Dutch Employers’ Cooperation Programme (DECP) for supporting SAFE for over a decade. Now that DECP was not in a position to continue its support due to structural changes, it was resolved that SAFE will be continued as an institution on a self-sustainable basis.
Farooq Ahmed, Secretary General BD Employers South Asian Forum of Employers’ Federation paid special tribute to Majyd Aziz for his contribution in reactivating SAFE as its first President. The meeting resolved to continue his legacy and strengthen SAFE as the voice of employers on important issues confronting the Region.
Zaki Ahmed Khan, VP, Employers’ Federation of Pakistan(EFP), in his remarks assured that EFP will extend its full support in keeping the SAFE alive, and agreed with Farooq’s proposal to hold future meetings of SAFE on the side-lines of AOTS and ILC during the year 2023.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Pandey, Secretary General SAFE, Ardashir Kabir, President BEF, Shushmita Anis, VP of BEF, Syed Tanveer Hussain of BEF, Srinageshwar of EFI and F K Siddiqi Sr. Advisor EFP.
It was decided to hold the next meeting on the side-lines of the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships(AOTS) meeting at Malaysia in January 2023 in which the Presidentship of SAFE will be passed on to India.
