Dylan Sprouse has joked that he and his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, are “children of incest” after discovering unexpected connections between their family lines through genealogy platform Ancestry. Cole later responded to the headline on Instagram, calling it clickbait.

The 34-year-old actor discussed the discovery during Tuesday’s episode of the Wildmen Podcast. He explained that he had connected with relatives he had never met because of divisions within his father’s side of the family.

Dylan said both sides of his family had lived in California during the Gold Rush era. Their family lines eventually connected through marriage in the 1800s.

Dylan also revealed that his family tree includes seven sets of twins across four generations. He jokingly attributed the pattern to the connection between the two sides of his family.

“The reason we have a lot of twins is because it’s the same family!” he said.
