KARACHI, Mar 09 2026 :The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in collaboration with Indus Hospital and Health Network on Monday held a round-table conference to discuss and contemplate on the growing public health concern posed by rabies and the increasing stray dogs in communities.
The Conference was aimed at facilitating a constructive dialogue and develop practical, sustainable and long-term solutions to the aforesaid pressing issue.
Health experts and global policy-makers from UNICEF and IHHN, representatives of the government of Sindh and relevant local government departments including Karachi Metropolitan Corporation shed light on the matter.
Animal experts and representatives of volunteer organizations, renowned religious scholars and prominent community leaders also attended the round-table conference.
The experts in detail discussed and reviewed the current surge in dog bites and rabies cases.
They said that the authorities concerned have the role to protect the public against these dog bites.
The experts and representatives also deliberated on mass vaccination strategies under one health approach and the already approved Sindh government’s anti-rabies program.
They also stressed the need for action against stray dogs to avoid any future incident and cases of dog bites.
