Karachi Pakistan – The 3rd Convocation of DHA Suffa University (DSU) was held on 21st June 2023 (Wednesday) at the Convention Centre of DA Country and Golf Club, Karachi where 300 students were awarded Degrees in Undergraduate and Graduate programs in the faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Management Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Basic Science.
His Excellency Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and conferred degrees on the graduating students of Postgraduate and Undergraduate programs. Chief Guest also awarded 14 Gold Medals and 14 Silver Medals to the students who qualified with distinction in their respective programs.
The Convocation was attended by graduating students and their parents, faculty members, educationists, eminent scholars, industrialists, businessmen, ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of the print and electronic media.
The ceremony started with the procession entering the centre lead by the Chief Guest Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (Foreign Minister of Pakistan), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haq (Vice Chancellor DSU), Brig. (Retd) Prof. Ahmed Saeed Minhas (Pro-Vice Chancellor DSU), Brig. Asim Mustafa Rai (Administrator DHA Karachi) and taking their seats. The soulful recitation from the Holy Quran and the heart touching sounds of the National Anthem of Pakistan sung by the talented stuents of DHA Suffa University made the event even more colorful.
Brig Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Iqbal SI (M) (Retd) Registrar DHA Suffa University formally announced the opening of Convocation ceremony followed by worthy words of Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haq, Vice Chancellor DHA Suffa University. Engr. Prof. Dr. Afzal Haque Vice Chancellor DHA Suffa University thanked His Excellency Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest, and admired the efforts of the Government in the field of education. Dr. Afzal encouraged the students and graduates to play their pivotal part in enhancing the image of the University and advised them to remain steadfast in their efforts going forward.
Prof. Dr. Afzal said, DSU is committed to globalizing its educational programs and as a testimony to this, a faculty member from Spain has joined us. He congratulated all the graduating students on entering a new phase in their lives. He said that DSU has taken the right direction is making tremendous progress on the academic front. Dr. Afzal concluded his address by saying that graduating students must realize that their future depends on their present and what they choose to do now. Their actions today will determine their future. He advised the graduates to create their own worlds and lead their lives to the fullest.
While addressing the ceremony, His Excellency Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Foreign Minister of Pakistan thanked the authorities of DHA Suffa University for inviting Him as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the growing strength of the University which is now reaching to three thousand students admitted in various disciplines, He acknowledged the pivotal role in promoting higher education in the private sector and it has constantly been seeking new horizon for growth of higher education in the country. He conveyed his heartiest congratulations to the graduating students.
During his speech, he highlighted the achievements of DSU, its leading role in delivering information and communication technology-based education, and highlighted the provision of quality education to the remotest areas of the country.
The highlight of the ceremony was the group photograph of the Chief Guest with the authorities, faculty and the graduating students.
It was a joyous occasion for not only the families of the graduating students but also the respective departments with which the students had their long-term association. The day ended with students revisiting their memories at a place which they call home and making new ones with their loved ones on achieving this milestone.
