Designer Zara ShahJahan recently gets hate towards her models for being dusky. She conveys about models who received criticism on social media for not having white complexion after seeing their photos uploaded on social media for her new campaign. She is a Pakistani fashion designer who runs her own well-known fashion brand since 2004 recently she uploaded photos for her new campaign and hater’s targeted her models and stated that the models are looking like their maids. The designer didn’t holds back on such negative comment and called out hater’s for their response towards the unrealistic beauty standards.
She wrote “So I had a shoot in turkey. My team left a day earlier and the day my models and I had to leave turkey, as they announced 15 days of quarantine. We were left with no choice but to hire models from there”.
According to designer she told users of social media that how she tried to find girls who look South Asian and finally she found these two stunning Mexican models. Who flew from LA just for the campaign? She further said that we were happy, the campaign looked really beautiful and we launched it but what happened after is quite disturbing.
She questioned everyone now we will live according to our color complexions, are we such people?? Why do we want the models to be white and sultry?
Therefore, apart from this not only Zara ShahJahan received hate on her dark skin models. A couple of months ago, actress Syra Yousuf also get negative comments on her skin tone after she posted her new bridal wear pictures.
People said “You look like our kaam wali maasi” but Syra didn’t holds back and replied in a very humble way “To your maasi and my twin, I give salaam”.
I think no one should be criticized on their appearance; it’s not what our religion Islam taught us. Whether they’re models, actors or anyone else we have no right to say anything on their appearance. For a while just forget about color complexion just look at the features of the models, how beautiful they’re. We will have to leave this ridiculousness and change our mentality from now. What are your thoughts about Zara ShahJahan’s statement?
