Karachi: As per directions of honorable Minister of Science and Technology, the Director Conformity
Assessment CA Islamabad Zone assigned the task to Conformity Assessment Officers of Islamabad
Zone for crackdown against Illegal / Sub-Standards and Non-License Products. In this regard Assistant
Director and Field Officer conducted Market Surveillance of food and non-food mandatory products.
Non-licensee brands without having PS Mark on label found in Super Stores and were de-shelved.
During the crackdown against illegal keeping in stock and sale, some mandatory items such as Skin
Cream, Toilet Soap, Hair Dye, Iodized Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Fruit Drinks, Pickles and Jams were
found illegal / Non-Licensee. The Manager of Departmental Stores were given notices to avoid keeping
in stocks of mandatory food and non-food items/brands, which are not licensed and duly marked PS
logo. They were also warned that in case of non-compliance of the directives of the Authority, the
illegal/un-licensed items will be confiscated and strict legal action will be taken. Furthermore, notices
are being issued to manufacturers of such identified illegal/unlicensed brands under section 14 of
PSQCA Act 1996 to refrain from manufacturing, keeping in stock and sale without having valid PSQCA
license.
According to the spokesperson, the Director General PSQCA, Mr. Taufique Ali Abbasi has directed
massive crackdown to eradicate illegal, substandard and non-compliant items from the market. He
emphasized that it is the topmost priority of PSQCA to ensure public health, safety and to protect the
rights of consumer across the country. Negligence in execution of this task will not be tolerated. PSQCA
is earnestly striving to provide quality and standardized products to the public.
