A couple in India risked several lives by blocking a section of a busy highway while sitting on it and taking photos, the video of which was captured on the car’s dash cam. The clip, reportedly recorded from inside a moving car, shows a driver approaching a section of the road where visibility is limited due to a slope. As the vehicle approaches, a couple suddenly appears sitting on a scooter parked on the left side of the highway. The scooter appears to be partially blocking the road as the two pose for a selfie, oblivious to oncoming traffic. The driver stops his car and confronts the couple. “What are you doing sitting here?” the couple accuses the driver. They question his objection and say that they have every right to click pictures on the road. The clip sparked heated debate on social media soon after it was shared online. Users expressed anger at the couple, while others called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and tougher penalties for dangerous behavior on highways. Several users pointed out that highways are designed for continuous movement and even a short stop in such areas can be fatal.
