KARACHI- CEO Pakistan International Airlines Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik said that revenue of the national flag carrier has 41 pc increased during last six months, while he was addressing a gathering of industrialist at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) here on Monday. Patron-in-Chief of KATI SM Muneer, President Danish Khan, Senior Vice President Faraz-ur-Rehman, Chairman KITE Zubair Chhaya and other also spoke on the occasion.
CEO PIA Mr. Malik told that in the result of corrective measure financial performance of the airlines has been improved and the revenue had increased up to 41 percent during the last six month.
President KATI Danish Khan and CEO PIA Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik are exchanging document of singed MoU. SM Muneer, Zubair Chhaya, Faraz-ur-Rehman and Maheen Salman can be seen also.
“Next Month 2 and till next year 3 more aircraft would be added to the fleet” he added. He said that PIA has opened its flight to Toronto and number of flight for Dubai will be increased soon. He said that the business community has a vital role in the economic prosperity of the country and we want to provide them our best services.
He said that many measures were underway to improve Cargo and other services and cooperation from the Business community would be well needed in this regard. He told that 8 thousand new blankets have been procured by the airline and other facilities would be improved. Mr. Malik said that PIA will establish especial counters for Business community and discount on passenger services fees of 5 pc on domestic and 7 pc on international flights would be offered. He said that twelve 777 aircraft are operational in the fleet and the cargo handling has been increased to 80 pc which helped us to bring down loses.
SM Muneer said that performance of PIA was getting better and initiatives by current management in this regard were taken in the right direction, but to increase numbers of passengers and cargo handling there is a lot to be done.
He suggested that for the improvement of cargo handling there should be an effective marketing strategy. Danish Khan said that Flight operation of PIA has been improved, this change for better is appreciable. He said that the financial performance of PIA is vital for the national economy. He also cited that National Flag carrier of any country considered as the identity of any nation worldwide, PIA has glorious track record but now that image has faded due to performance. “I hope the old god days will come back”, he added.
Zubair Chhaya also mentioned the good old days of PIA and landed hope for betterment incoming day. SVP Faraz-ur-Rehman praised the performance of PIA during Hajj operations urged for business-friendly cargo policy to improve national trade.
An MoU between KATI and PIA has signed on this occasion. According to this MoU, a special ticketing counter would be established for the business community and PIA will offer a discount of 5 pc on domestic and 7 pc on international flights to KATI Members.
