Karachi: Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus H.E Andrei Metelitsa to Pakistan visited FPCCI Head Office to discuss bilateral trade, virtual exhibition followed by a trade delegation to Belarus.
He was welcome by the President FPCCI Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo, Pakistan – Belarus Business Council Chairman Shahzad Sabir briefed the Ambassador on current trade patterns, potential sectors for trade, and discussed possible ways to develop industrial cooperation between both countries.
Pakistan – Belarus Business Council Vice Chairman Faisal Lodhia briefed on technology sharing with Belarus potential partners and all business council directors Zubair Aman, Kashif Nafees Siddiqui, Kumail Polani and all members keenly briefed to His Excellency about their sectors of interest.
President FPCCI Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo presented the plaque, Chairman Pakistan – Belarus Business Council Shahzad Sabir presented the Bouquet and company’s souvenir and senior vice chairman Pervez Haroon Madraswala presented a report on the first business session to His Excellency
H.E. Andrei Metelitsa said that the Belarusian economy is primarily based on industrial and engineering production – and, quality of its machinery is world-class. For example, tractors, trucks, cranes, metal-cutting machinery, and other construction-related machinery have very high standards. Additionally, he mentioned that home appliances produced in Belarus are of superior quality, e.g. Washing Machines, Dishwashers, Refrigerators, and other small and large home appliances.
Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo said that Pakistan and Belarus must plan and organize a virtual trade exhibition and not wait for the COVID-related restrictions to be fully over. Afterward, FPCCI and business chambers of Belarus can organize trade exhibitions and fairs in both countries every year.
Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo also stressed the need to enhance the export volumes of Pakistani fruits, vegetables, rice, textiles, and other conventional exports to Belarus from Pakistan as the trade volume between the two countries is too low. He requested the ambassador to open up more opportunities for Pakistani exporters and facilitate swift visa processing.
FPCCI is looking forward to hosting Belarusian businessmen and traders and send trade delegations to Belarus for productive and mutually beneficial business relationships.
