Karachi – Azerbaijan Airlines commenced its operations in Karachi, marking a significant milestone with an inaugural ceremony held at the International Departure Lounge of Karachi Airport early this morning. The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tissori, who served as the chief guest.
The ceremony welcomed several other prominent figures such as the wife and Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Provincial Commerce Minister Jam Dharijo, CEO of TDAP Zubair Motiwala, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Iftikhar Sheikh, VP of KCCI Tanvir Bari, and former KCCI President Majyd Aziz. Farooq Afzil, president of the Pak-Turkey Business Forum, was also in attendance among other members of the KCCI’s Managing Committee.
The launch of Azerbaijan Airlines’ operations from Karachi is expected to enhance connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, fostering increased business, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
This new service underscores the growing aviation links in the region and is anticipated to offer more travel options for passengers traveling between Central Asia and South Asia.Speaking at the event, Governor Tissori highlighted the importance of such international collaborations, noting that “this new route not only strengthens ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan but also opens up new avenues for economic and cultural exchanges.
“The attendees of the ceremony expressed optimism about the potential for increased trade and interaction, which is likely to benefit both countries economically and culturally. The airline’s decision to operate out of Karachi underscores the city’s strategic importance as a hub in South Asia and its growing international connectivity.
