Dubai: Dubai saw huge crowds as the Apple iPhone 16 went on sale on Friday. Many residents and tourists lined up at malls, with some arriving as early as 5 AM to be among the first to buy the new phones.
This year, Apple introduced new rules for buying the iPhones. According to Khaleej Times, customers had to make online reservations and could not just walk in. Each person was allowed to buy only two phones using their Apple ID to prevent bulk purchases. However, some people found ways around this by using different IDs to buy more.
In the UAE, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at AED 4,299, and the Pro Max begins at AED 5,099. Shoppers from countries like Russia, where Apple stores are closed, and Turkey, where prices can reach AED 12,000, came to Dubai for better deals.
Earlier in September, Apple introduced the iPhone 16, emphasizing its artificial intelligence features. However, the launch received criticism in China for not meeting expectations, especially with competition from Huawei.
Authorized resellers like Jumbo Electronics and Sharaf DG are also expected to sell the new iPhones. As excitement grows, many are curious about the prices in markets like Pakistan, considering the extra duties and taxes involved. The Apple craze is in full swing as customers rush to get the latest iPhone!
