Karachi: H.E. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen is on an official visit to Karachi from 19th till 21st January 2021, he met Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary Head of Int’l Center for Chemical & Biological Sciences (ICCBS) University of Karachi, to discuss collaboration between ICCBS & Yemeni scientific institutions particularly in molecular biology. The Ambassador was accompanied by Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, leading businessman & Hon. Consul General of Yemen in Karachi. ICCBS offered yearly 10 scholarships to Yemeni students for five years in the field of molecular medicine & drug research. Ambassador also met Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi Vice Chancellor Karachi University and discussed issues relating to Yemeni students studying at Karachi University under Pakistan Technical Assistance (PTA) and Technical Education Programs (TEP). He also met Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi Vice Chancellor NED University &Prof. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi Vice Chancellor Dawood University, where Yemeni students are studying engineering and discussed promoting collaboration between Pakistani universities &Yemeni educational institutions.
He thanked the Government of Pakistan for the assistance and providing an opportunity for higher education for Yemeni students in Pakistan and said they will be true ambassadors of Pakistan on their return to Yemen.
The Ambassador of Yemen also attended a dinner reception hosted by Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig in his honor at his residence, attended by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Minister for Local Govt, Saeed Ghani Minister for Education Govt. of Sindh, Ishtiaq Baig Hon. Consul of Morocco, Mishal Mohammad Al Ansari Consul General of Qatar, Acting Consul General of Oman Hamood Naseer Sulaiyam Al Nahdi, Saleem Yousuf Chairman PCB Cricket Committee & others.
