(April 03-2023)Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Monday said the country’s economy was irreparably damaged by the coronavirus and floods.
After that came the political crisis which took the economy hostage which was followed by the constitutional crisis which has also engulfed the country, he said.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that the country is going bankrupt but all the forces are engaged in political conflict instead of solving the country’s problems.
Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that in the current situation, investors are the biggest losers after the masses.
He said that investors and big businesses should not play the role of silent spectators; they also need to play an active role to improve the current deteriorating situation.
The influential business groups can put pressure on all groups engaged in the power struggle to improve the situation.
This is only possible when the country’s top businessmen unite, putting aside their political affiliations, and force all the players involved in this terrible game of power to act responsibly.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that those who are busy trying to gain power are not interested in the problems of the people from whom they need votes.
People are worried about inflation, poor are dying to get flour, but the failed politicians are only concerned with their own interests and they have no mercy for the people who are dying of hunger.
In the current situation, self-interested politicians have failed, inflation, unemployment, and public agitation are increasing and things are getting out of hand. If big investors do not play their role even then, their businesses will also shrink rapidly and end soon.
