Karachi, Pakistan — In a move that reflects the accelerating shift toward digital banking in Pakistan, ABHI Microfinance Bank Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jaffer Business Systems Private Limited (JBS) to jointly explore technology-driven solutions and AI-enabled capabilities that can support the Bank’s continued evolution into a more digitally focused financial institution.
The understanding creates a practical framework for both organizations to work closely, assess emerging technologies, and identify areas where digital tools can create real impact — not just within systems and processes, but in how customers experience banking. From improving operational efficiency to enabling smarter service delivery, the collaboration is centered on building solutions that are relevant, scalable, and grounded in real-world banking needs.
Over the next twelve months, teams from both sides will engage in structured discussions to evaluate use cases, test ideas, and outline clear pathways for implementation. The MoU is non-binding, allowing both parties the flexibility to thoughtfully explore opportunities before entering into specific commercial or operational agreements.
Beyond technology, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to responsible innovation and financial inclusion. The MoU also sets out key principles relating to confidentiality, protection of intellectual property, and governance. Each organization retains ownership of its existing intellectual property, and both have committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding shared information. The understanding is governed under the laws of Pakistan, with Islamabad as the jurisdiction, and includes structured dispute resolution provisions.
The agreement was formally executed by Muhammad Farooq Kamran, Chief Financial Officer, and Mariam Pervaiz, Chief Commercial Officer, on behalf of ABHI Microfinance Bank, and by Sara Hasan, Head of JBS Consulting, and Adil Wadood, General Manager, representing Jaffer Business Systems. The signing ceremony was also attended by Kabeer Naqvi, Entrepreneur in Residence at ABHI, and Veqar Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Jaffer Business Systems, along with senior members of both leadership teams.
