A tourist village in China has apologized after a backlash for using cotton wool and soapy water to fake snowfall.

China : In its defense, the Chengdu Snow Village Project said that the weather was hot in late January and the snow village did not take shape as expected during the Lunar New Year holiday. A new tourist attraction opened on the outskirts of Chengdu drew criticism soon after its opening when hikers found the snow on cottages and forest trails to be cotton wool. One tourist said in a video posted on Chinese social media that he felt cheated. They believe that their intelligence has been disrespected.
