A Memorandum of Understanding Signed between Dow University of Health Sciences and the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Karachi: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore for increasing collaboration and cooperation in science and technology, research and inventions, exchange of delegations of faculty and students. The formal signing ceremony was held at Dow University of Health Sciences’ Vice Chancellor’s Board Room. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy on behalf of Dow

University, while Dr. Mansoor Mohiuddin, Director of Cardiac Xenotransplantation, University of Maryland, Baltimore (who is also the President of Dow Graduates Association of North America). Registrar Dow University Dr. Ashar Afaq was also present on this occasion. According to the Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding, the University of Maryland and Dow University recognize the mutual benefits of establishing equitable and international links for the democratization of education and to achieve global goals. Purpose of this MoU is to offer a framework that allows and facilitates the promotion of cooperation and mobility between both institutions and encourage intercultural growth and understanding between DUHS, UMB and DOGANA under the aegis of global citizenship. This MoU will promote action designed to address global challenges and encourages actions designed to build cross border agreements through science, technology, and innovation.

The Scope of this cooperation will lead to exchange of faculty, and students for observation, research, teaching and study. This MoU will help in joint research activities and joint supervision of research work and coordination and mutual organization of academic meetings, as well as conferences, seminars, workshops and other activities.

Dr. Mansoor Mohiuddin said, while sharing his thoughts after signing the MoU, the agreement with the University of Maryland is a start, more agreements will be signed with other American universities so that more people from Pakistan can get training in America and come back and provide better health facilities here. And as a result of this agreement, experts from America will be able to come to Pakistan, which will help them to understand the problems faced in Pakistan and here in the health sector. At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Mansoor Mohiuddin and Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy also exchanged the memorandum of understanding documents.
