TOKYO : The record price of bluefin tuna fish during the first auction of 2026 at the famous Toyosu Fish Market in the Japanese capital Tokyo surprised everyone. A giant bluefin tuna weighing 243 kilograms (535 pounds) was sold for 510 million yen (about $ 3.2 million), which is about 900 million rupees in Pakistani currency. This is considered the most expensive tuna auction ever. According to the AP news agency, the highest bid in the auction held early Monday morning was made by the Kiyomura Corporation, whose owner, Kiyoshi Kimura, runs the famous sushi chain “Sushi Zanmai” in Japan. Kimura has bought the most expensive tuna at the first auction of the year several times before, but this time he broke his own record. He previously set the record in 2019 with a bid of 334 million yen.
