Karachi -In an astounding achievement for Pakistan in international trade circles, Mr. Khurram Tariq Sayeed, former VP FPCCI, was elected Vice President of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce & Industry (CACCI) at the 36th CACCI Conference at Melbourne, Australia. It is pertinent to note that CACCI is one of the world’s most influential trade alliances comprising of 27 countries.
Mr. Suleman Chawla, Acting President FPCCI, has expressed his satisfaction that a prominent, active & senior member of FPCCI has been bestowed with the honor and responsibility. It is a national achievement and a moment of price for the entire business, industry & trade community of Pakistan.
Mr. Suleman Chawla apprised that Mr. Khurram Tariq Sayeed was elected unanimously and he is elected VP CACCI after 8 long years for any Pakistani. Additionally, he is the only second Pakistani to be ever elected VP CACCI after his illustrious father Late Tariq Sayeed was elected VP CACCI in 2010.
CACCI, established in 1965, is a powerful and influential non-governmental organization principally composed of the national chambers of commerce and industry in Asia and the Western Pacific and has been granted consultative status under the United Nations as CACCI’s objective is to link and promote economic growth of member countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Suleman Chawla has explained that CACCI member countries have collective GDP running into trillions of dollars and are very important for the Pakistan in all aspects of economic cooperation – trade, investments, JVs, tourism, B2B linkages, chamber-to-chamber cooperation and bilateral economic cooperation with the member countries.
The decision of Mr. Khurram Tariq Sayeed’s election was announced at the 95th CACCI council meeting in the presence of council members from 25 countries; including a high-profile Pakistani delegation led by Mr. Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President FPCCI; Mr. Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, VP FPCCI; Mr. Zakaria Usman, former President FPCCI; Mr. Shahzeb Akram, immediate past SVP FPCCI; Sheikh Sultan Rahman, Coordinator Head Office FPCCI; among others prominent business personalities.
