Showbiz Desk: World-renowned Hollywood actress, filmmaker, and Special Envoy for UN Refugees Angelina Jolie say the number of people fleeing Ukraine has risen to more than half a million.
Special Envoy Angelina Jolie shared a few photos of the current situation in Ukraine on the Instagram.
“Over the past several days, more than 0.5 million people have been fled from Ukraine to neighboring countries,” she said while sharing the photos.
“The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates that the number could reach 4 million if the situation escalates,” she wrote.
“At this time, it is important that the countries receiving Ukrainian citizens continue to welcome all those fleeing the conflict and insecurity,” Further Special Envoy wrote.
Meanwhile, on February 24, Russia invaded its neighboring country Ukraine. The fighting has so far claimed hundreds of lives and caused heavy casualties to both sides. The woman has signed up to defend her home from Russian forces that have killed hundreds of people during the last few days of war.
