Directorate of Anti-Quackery Sindh Healthcare Commission under directions of Dr. Khalid Sheikh Convener of Anti-Quackery Committee registered FIRs against the habitual quacks, who were involved in illegal de-sealing of officially sealed clinics. Total 07 FIRs were registered, 04 Badin, 01 Karachi, and 02 at Jacobabad against 14 quacks. G Yaseen Veesar Director Anti-quackery expressed his views in the context that the Committee comprised of the Board of Commissioners headed by Dr Khalid Sheikh, Mr Jawad Amin, and Dr A Razaq sheikh decided in the meeting to take stern actions against the culprits, who violated the law to establish the writ of government i.e. SHCC. In compliance with the decision, Yaseen Veesar Director Anti-Quackery with his team conducted multiple meetings with SSPs of concerned districts, and with the support of Police; Directorate has lodged FIRs under Pakistan Penal Code. Meanwhile during this week team visited 90 clinics and sealed 48 clinics on account of practicing quackery. However, 20 practitioners/ owners submitted Rs around Rs. 10 lacs penalty amount which was imposed by the Board of Commissioners during the decision against de-sealing applications.
Dr. Khalid Sheikh, Convener Anti-Quackery Committee, SHCC shared his comments that as per law SHCC is mandated to regularize healthcare services provided in the Province of Sindh and will take stern actions, especially against quackery practices. Dr. Sheikh added that MBBS doctors submitted their apologies in writing and confessed, in their absence dispensers/ compounders were practicing. They ensured, doctors will not allow dispensers/ compounders to treat patients in absence of qualified doctors. These applications were disposed of with the imposition of penalties and follow-up visits will be conducted to these legally de-sealed clinics.
