Arsenal Edge Nottingham Forest as Manchester United Drop Points at Leeds

Arsenal celebrate after Noni Madueke’s late goal secures victory over Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday to maintain pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City. Meanwhile, Manchester United continued their difficult start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Arsenal struggled to create clear chances against Forest. However, substitute Noni Madueke finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute. His effort found the net after taking a deflection off Jair Cunha.
The win moved Mikel Arteta’s side back into second place, three points behind Manchester City. Forest, meanwhile, slipped into the relegation zone after failing to convert several late opportunities.
Madueke Delivers for Arsenal
Arsenal struggled to find their attacking rhythm throughout the match. Despite their limited threat, the Gunners showed patience and eventually found a decisive breakthrough.

Madueke’s late strike proved enough to secure all three points. It was also Arsenal’s only shot on target, highlighting the difficulty they faced against Forest’s organised defence.
After the match, Arteta praised his players for staying focused under pressure.
“We had to earn it until the last second,” he told the BBC. He also described Forest as a well-coached team that was difficult to break down.
Arteta added that his side had to take risks while managing the pressure of a close contest. He credited his substitutes with making a significant impact.
Manchester United Held to Draw at Leeds
Manchester United missed another opportunity to improve their league position after drawing 1-1 with rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.
Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 35th minute. He guided a cross from Youri Tielemans into the bottom corner to register his fourth goal of the season.
Leeds responded after the break. Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised in the 51st minute, controlling the ball on his chest before finishing at full stretch following a header from Tarik Muharemovic at a corner.
United could not find a winning goal and had to settle for a point. The result extended their poor run, with the club recording only one league win in seven games and going without a victory in their previous six matches across all competitions.
Pressure Mounts on Carrick
United manager Michael Carrick acknowledged that his team still lacked confidence but highlighted aspects of the performance he considered encouraging.
He said the players had approached the match with the right attitude, although he admitted that their performance was not perfect.
The draw came amid renewed scrutiny of the club’s form and internal tensions. Defender Lisandro Martinez had criticised United’s hierarchy over summer transfer investment following a Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Carrick said the club had moved on from the incident, and Martinez started against Leeds.
United remained 13th in the league table, extending a disappointing run that has raised questions about their consistency.
Brighton Score Five Against Crystal Palace
Elsewhere, Brighton produced an emphatic 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Diego Gomez grabbed attention with a spectacular effort from near the halfway line.
Brighton’s attacking output has also been notable. The team reached 23 goals in its first seven league matches, a tally surpassed by only three sides at the same stage in Premier League history, according to the supplied report.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth defeated 10-man Sunderland 2-0 to claim their first league win of the season. Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson scored the goals.
The results kept the title race competitive while adding to the pressure on Manchester United to improve their performances in the weeks ahead.
