KARACHI: Actor Ali Ansari has defended television host Nadia Khan after a clip of her criticism of Zanjeerein sparked backlash on social media.

Ansari discussed the controversy during an appearance on Khan’s show Rise & Shine on August 19.

The conversation focused on Khan’s earlier comments about a scene featuring actress Sajal Ali in the drama. Khan had faced criticism from Sajal’s fans and some members of the entertainment industry after mimicking a moment from the show.

Ali Ansari Says Context Was Lost

Ansari said he had not watched the scene himself when the controversy emerged.

He explained that he only heard about Khan’s comments after a short clip began circulating online.

Sajal Ali is Ansari’s sister-in-law, making the issue particularly relevant to him.

However, Ansari said he knew Khan well enough to understand that she was enjoying the segment and speaking naturally during the discussion.

Khan then clarified that her comments were not directed at Sajal’s acting.

She said her criticism concerned an editing issue in the scene. According to Khan, the voice added to the sequence did not match the visuals.

Nadia Khan Explains Her Original Criticism

Khan said her intention was to highlight what she considered a technical problem.

She insisted that she was not criticising Sajal’s performance.

Ansari suggested that Khan’s full explanation was likely much longer than the 15 to 20 seconds shared online.

He said short clips can give audiences a completely different impression of what someone actually meant.

The actor argued that social media users sometimes remove comments from their original context. According to him, this can turn a harmless discussion into a major controversy.

Social Media Trolling Returns

Khan also discussed another controversy involving her praise for actress Durefishan Saleem.

She said some social media users accused her of favouring Saleem after she praised the actor’s performance in Dar-e-Nijaat.

Some trolls even questioned whether Saleem had paid Khan for the positive comments.

Ansari laughed at the allegation and advised Khan not to allow online criticism to affect her.

The exchange highlighted the growing challenges celebrities face when comments are edited into short viral clips.

Tauseeq Haider Faced Similar Experience

Ansari’s comments also echoed an earlier incident involving television presenter Tauseeq Haider.

Haider had previously appeared on Rise & Shine to address false reports that he had married actress Farah Saadia.

The claims were based on AI-generated images showing the two celebrities at a supposed wedding.

Haider and Farah Saadia initially joked about the fake wedding in a video. They then explained that the images circulating online had been artificially generated.

However, users reportedly removed the opening joke from the video and circulated it as supposed confirmation of the marriage.

The incident demonstrated how edited clips and AI-generated material can create misleading narratives online.

For Ansari, the Nadia Khan controversy is another example of the same problem.

He argued that viewers should consider the full conversation before forming opinions based on short clips circulating on social media.
