The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $856 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, extending the game’s jackpot rollover streak.
The winning numbers for the Aug. 5 draw were 14, 20, 59, 60, 61, with Powerball 25. While no one claimed the grand prize, a ticket sold in Ohio matched five numbers to win $1 million. The Ohio Lottery confirmed the winning ticket was purchased at a Speedway in Mason, Ohio.
A further 20 tickets matched four numbers and the Powerball, each earning $50,000. Three of those winners had the Power Play option, doubling their prize money to $100,000.

Lottery officials noted that Wednesday’s jackpot carried an estimated cash value of $341.6 million, ranking as the ninth-largest in history. With no grand prize winner, it has now officially reached the rank of the eighth-largest Powerball jackpot of all time.

The grand prize was last won on May 2, when two winning tickets sold in Florida and Texas shared a $20 million prize. Since then, 40 consecutive drawings have ended without a jackpot winner.

The next drawing for the Powerball jackpot is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8.
The lottery is available in 45 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the United Kingdom. Each ticket costs $2, with an optional $1 Power Play feature to multiply non-jackpot winnings.
