FinTech Talent shines as UBL National Innovation Hackathon 2026 concludes in Karachi

The FinTech Talent on display at the UBL National Innovation Hackathon 2026 highlighted Pakistan’s growing innovation ecosystem as the three-day competition concluded at the National Incubation Center (NIC) Karachi. Organised by NIC Karachi, an Ignite-funded initiative under the Ministry of IT & Telecom, in collaboration with United Bank Limited (UBL), the event brought together 25 finalist teams selected from 1,281 applicants nationwide. Participants developed technology-driven solutions for banking, digital payments and financial services, demonstrating Pakistan’s expanding capabilities in financial technology and digital innovation.
25 Teams Presented Market-Ready Solutions
Finalist teams competed in five major categories, including Artificial Intelligence in Banking, Blockchain and Digital Trust, UX/UI for Inclusive Financial Services, Open Banking APIs, and Emerging FinTech Solutions.
Using a structured innovation framework, participants conducted user research, designed functional prototypes, validated business models and created practical solutions for real-world banking challenges.

Industry Mentors Guided Participants
Throughout the competition, industry experts provided technical mentorship and strategic guidance to help teams strengthen their products and prepare investor-ready business pitches.
Each team submitted functional prototypes backed by technical documentation, source code repositories, cloud deployments, demonstration videos and presentation decks for evaluation.
Strengthening Pakistan’s FinTech Ecosystem
The event concluded with participation certificates awarded to all 25 finalist teams in recognition of their innovation and collaboration.
Organisers said the initiative reflects the ongoing partnership between UBL and NIC Karachi to promote entrepreneurship, strengthen Pakistan’s FinTech ecosystem and accelerate the development of market-ready digital financial solutions.
