The event brought together ESUP members along with diplomats, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives, reflecting a broad interest in global political and strategic discourse.

Patron-in-Chief Aziz Memon welcomed the guest speaker, while ESUP President Pervez Madraswala introduced Senator Rehman and highlighted the organization’s mission of promoting dialogue, education, and international understanding through the English language.

Delivering her address titled “Navigating War and Peace,” Senator Rehman discussed current global tensions and shifting geopolitical dynamics. She observed that the post–World War II era has been marked by persistent conflict and instability, warning that recent geopolitical developments have heightened global uncertainty.

Referring to ongoing international tensions, she emphasized the economic and humanitarian ripple effects of conflict, noting that instability impacts households, industries, and essential sectors such as agriculture and education. She also highlighted Pakistan’s role in contributing to regional stability and supporting ceasefire efforts.

Senator Rehman further stated that global energy markets are undergoing a structural transformation, with energy and security emerging as central geopolitical battlegrounds. She pointed to the strategic importance of key maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and warned of continued volatility in oil and commodity prices affecting economies worldwide.

She noted that the world is increasingly shifting toward a complex and unpredictable multipolar order, requiring strong diplomatic engagement and adaptability. In this context, she described Pakistan’s diplomatic navigation as a significant achievement for a middle power seeking stability and constructive international engagement.

The session was moderated by Honorary Secretary Majyd Aziz and concluded with a vote of thanks by Senior Vice President Irfan Qureshi.
