Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Fine Art Committee Organized a live painting session titled “Brush Hour” at Haseena Moin Hall. In the session, painter A. S. Rind and Umina Khan created various masterpieces on the same canvas using charcoal and oil paint. During the painting demonstration, both artists also answered questions from the audience. This joint creative demonstration of father and daughter was highly appreciated by art lovers. Member of the National Assembly Sharmila Faruqui, Fine Art Committee Chairman Farrukh Shahab, Nusrat Khawaja, Samina Mumtaz, and other personalities associated with the art of painting attended the session. On this occasion, on behalf of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Chairman Fine Art Committee Farrukh Shahab presented shields to the renowned Pakistani painter A. S. Rind and Umina Khan in recognition of their outstanding services in the field of fine arts. Speaking on the occasion, Sharmila Faruqui said that it is a very beautiful feeling when a father and daughter are working together, and the heritage of women is clearly visible in their work. Renowned Pakistani painter A. S. Rind said that an artist is a storyteller who has many stories, and the one who has a story within becomes an artist.
The idea of working on women is the result of his observations, which have existed in his mind for a long time. Umina Khan said that she is very happy to paint with her father today, and working with him was her dream. Being a woman is sometimes very difficult. Her work and her father’s work are completely different. When she paints, she feels like a small child. She said that she enjoys talking to her father, who is a simple person. She added that she has also painted men, while her father understands women better than she does. She advised to paint whatever comes into one’s mind.
