The Inter-Parliamentary Initiative launched by Dr. Gholam Mujtaba for structured engagements between Pakistan and the United States has fully succeeded.
Over the past few weeks, a series of rumors and shifting narratives have been circulated with the sole intent of sabotaging this historic initiative. These included:
* “Congress is in recess” — false.?• “PPI-USA is unknown” — yet the U.S. Embassy issued A2 diplomatic visas to the delegation.?• “U.S. airstrikes expected this week” — again false.?• “Dates conflict with military top brass visit” — misleading and irrelevant.?• Character assassination, misinformation, and partisan labeling directed at my team and me.
Despite these efforts, truth prevailed.
Some Members of Congress were unfortunately misled by partisan portrayals of this visit. For clarity: Pakistani Americans have nothing to do with Pakistan’s domestic politics, and the same applies to PPI-USA and me. Our work strictly serves the U.S.–Pakistan strategic relationship, nothing more, nothing less.
ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Formation of a New U.S.–Pakistan Strategic Caucus? The required number of U.S. Congressmen have endorsed the creation of a U.S.–Pakistan Congressional Strategic Caucus for joint, future-oriented cooperation.
2. Inter-Parliamentary Committee?A dedicated Inter-Parliamentary Committee will be formed to institutionalize these engagements and reduce communication gaps.
3. High-Level Congressional Validation? At the Rayburn Building on Capitol Hill, Congressman Ron Estes, a senior Member of the House Ways & Means Committee, publicly lauded the initiative and stated:
“Good evening, it’s really a pleasure to be here to be able to address you tonight. You know I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mujtaba for helping arrange this and convening the inter-parliamentary group. I appreciate each of you for traveling so far to come here for this important dialogue, as representatives of our respective nations.”
This acknowledgment from a key U.S. lawmaker reflects the seriousness and credibility of the platform created.
4. Elimination of Trust Deficit?Direct legislative-to-legislative dialogue has been established as a mechanism to reduce the trust deficit between the two nations.
5. Economic Impact?Meetings between the delegation and U.S./allied investors have set in motion plans to unlock over $2 Billion in development projects in Pakistan.
THE NEW DOCTRINE
This doctrine of Unconventional Diplomacy — rooted in private, diaspora-enabled, parliamentary engagement — has been the collective brainchild of:
?? Senator Saleem Mandviwala??? Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan??? Dr. Gholam Mujtaba
Together, we demonstrated that diplomacy could advance beyond embassies and foreign ministries, through structured dialogue, parliamentary cooperation, and diaspora leadership.
History is often written quietly.?Today, a new chapter has begun.
